The Edgehill teams achieved success in February at the Devon Schools’ Gymnastics Competition, now they returned to home ground for the North Devon event which is much bigger and of a very high standard.
The juniors competed on Saturday and performed very well with the Under 7 Boys teams taking the title. The Under 7 Girls and the Under 11 Boys won the silver medals and the Under 11 Girls took the bronze. Katie Michael scored the highest floor score to win silver in the Under 11 Girls. Brooke Timmins also won silver in the Under 7 Girls and Ben Griffin and Lucas Wilson took individual bronze medals in the Under 7 and Under 11 Boys events.
The senior took to the floor on the Sunday, most of whom had played netball in Shropshire the previous day. They were outstanding: stretched throughout, they won the Girls Team Titles in every age group and the Under 13 Boys title. Sophie Percival excelled on both pieces in the Under 19 Girls event scoring 9.3 on the floor and a perfect 10 on the vault. The judges could not vault her handspring which soared through the air. Stephanie Green lead the Under 15 field winning yet another gold. In the Under 13 Girls Grace Woolway was just pushed to Silver individually with Millie Taylor-Richards taking the Bronze. Bronze medals were also won by Mark Mwuangulu and Harrison Weller in the Under 15 and Under 13 boys events respectively. Grace Woolway and Ste[hanie Green wan the award given in memory of Charlotte, for poise, grace and elegance. The senior teams were also awarded the Laycock trophy for Endeavour which was a fitting way to complete the competition.
All of the teams who competed during the weekend were superb in every way. They were able to honour Charlotte’s memory in the best way possible – winning all of the events for her.
